Nägelsförst Historic Ruins and Monastery Winery: Car and Walking Tour with Wine Tasting

Tasting of the premium Baden wines Riesling, Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Sauvignon Blanc, Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris), Rose Pinot Noir, Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir)) in the historic monastery winery Nägelsförst, founded by nuns from the Cistercian monastery in 1268, including a visit to 13th century castle ruins. In that castle in the 16th century Margrave Eduard Fortunatus (godson of Queen Elizabeth I of England), with the help of the invited from Italy alchemists Muscatelli and Pestalozzi, produced counterfeit coins. The castle offers scenic views of the Rhine Valley and the Rebland grape valley in Ortenau.
